Before pursuing his career in acting, young John Candy briefly considered rally driving. However, his lack of results and constant DNF's meant that sponsors were few and far between, and he was forced to pay for his racing out of his own pocket. The financial burden of constant roof replacement and tow services soon drove him to search for a new path to stardom.
